About Us

STATELINE BLUEBERRIES has 10  varieties on 35 acres.  The plantings go back to 1947 and as recent as 2002.  The farm is maintained for the u-pick customers.  Grass in the rows and the availbility to pick where ever you like makes for a pleasurable day.  We have a 35 acre wood with a nature trail to visit our furry and feather friends.

The picking season runs from the last week in June to the middle of August.  Please call in August to see how long we have left.

A knowledgable staff (our family) will answer your questions.

A little history about the farm and the family:

The farm was planted in 1947 and most all the bushes that were planted then are still here today. We have added a new varity and our patrons seem to like the size of the Dukes.

Dean and I bought the farm ( literally ) 9 years ago. Boy, does time fly. When we moved out to the area 10 years ago(from the region... YES, it's true Dean and I are "REGION RATS" we grew up in Merrillville, IN) a good friend told me it was the best place to pick berries in the area. I picked across the street on the Blue Crop and was amazed at the size of the berries! I was not thinking a whole lot about berry farming then; for I was still teaching elementary school. During the winter Dean and I notice that the farm was for sale....On a whim, we looked into it and Low and Behold, the rest is history. Dean felt that I needed a summer job, since school teachers have their summers off and he was working 12 months of the year, he felt I should be too!

The first year we owned the farm I was 9 months pregnant and had our first child, Audrey, at the height of the season...... Third week in July. What a crazy time that was...Our extended farm family still tells stories of the day I went into premature labor and they thought they would be delivering the baby right here at the farm. Wouldn't that be one to tell the grandchildren. LOL . Our youngest son, Owen, was also born during the busy season. Three tractor drivers later we are happy with our family and are concentrating on providing exceptional service to our guests!
Be patient during the week. Audrey, Drake and Owen, are full fledged workers, anwsering the phone and taking orders. If you happen to get them on the phone, the can pretty much answer any question you may have, the only thing they cannot do is give directions; perhaps next year! Audrey is getting very profient at the register as well.

We also have enlisted the help of some young ladies to help with the increasing number of guests we seem to be generating here at the farm... They are like our family and hope you treat them with the same kindness you have shown us over the years!!!!!!
